June C. Eskelson, 101 of Rochester and formerly of Winona, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at Riverbend Senior Living, Rochester, MN.
June Charlotte was born June 1, 1918, in Norway Township, Fillmore County, MN to Carl and Hilda (Bakken) Olstad. She attended Grindland School and Rushford High School, Rushford, MN. On October 17, 1936, she married Lawrence E. Eskelson and he preceded her in death March 27, 2003. Together they raised three children: Gerald, Lois, and Carla.
June was a member of Central Lutheran Church, Winona; since 1950. She was an aid to many of the elderly in the congregation through light housekeeping until she was ninety. She was employed at Schuler Candy/Brock Candy Co. for 29.5 years retiring in January 1981 as part of the quality control team.
June was a hallmark in her Goodview neighborhood with her daily walks and interactions with those she met along her way. She was most devoted to her family; loving to host numerous family gatherings with food and baked goods to delight all.
She is survived by two children: Lois (Phillip Traynor) Eskelson, Rochester, MN and Carla (Terry) McGee, Lakeland, FL; five grandchildren: Stacy (Kurt) Ingli, David Eskelson, Sarah (Mark) Van Uden, Meghan (Richard Vernsey) McGee, and Molly (Nick) Ivancevich; eight great grandchildren: Tyler, Shawn, Jacob, Marrah, Quinn, Joey, Luka, and Teddy; two sisters: Martha Ferden, Bemidji, MN and Lillian Larson, Jamestown, ND; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, two sisters: Ruth Ellefson and Viola Wieland; and three brothers: Clifford, Ernest, and Roger.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2019, at Central Lutheran Church, Winona with Rev. Michael Short officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
